In October 2019 Malcolm and I holidayed in Devon near where we were brought up in Teignmouth. Nearly 70 years ago, we went to Bishopsteignton Primary School and under the expert and firm guidance of Miss Robinson, Head Teacher, got places in Teignmouth Grammar School. On Saturday we passed through Bishopsteignton and saw the building which was once our first school. It was open for a public village Heritage event. We went in and had tea and cake in the Hall which was once Miss Robinson’s classroom. He showed me the spot by the window where he had placed his desk all those years ago - about as far as he could get from Miss Robinson! Malcolm was three years younger than me and a lovely chap. He showed no sign of the cancer that would afflict him a year later and he enjoyed visiting the local area again. This turned out to be our last holiday together because of the Pandemic.
